MICK AND JUDY TURNER
1954 -Mick Turner moved to Nerang in South East Queensland in his early 20s buying the local service station and set about forging a career in the automotive mechanical repair industry. At the same time he took on distribution rights for the Danarm brand of chainsaws. Mick then bought an Italian Ansaldo tractor and a Diamond Rio truck and diversified into timber snigging and grain haulage. He soon had his own fabrication workshop where he’d specialise in doing whatever it was you needed done.
Over time, Mick’s reputation for ingenuity and his ability to make, fix or improve anything was surpassed only by his business sense. Under Mick’s direction, Turner’s Engineering took on projects ranging from the construction of Gold Coast hotels to the manufacture and standardisation of greyhound track starter boxes and the electric rabbit. In addition to these, Turner’s were engaged to construct front loading barges for the Gold Coast waterways and even designed, built and installed crematorium furnaces. Mick recognised an opportunity in the civil contracting, earthmoving and construction industries.
With his own brand of tenacity, Turner’s Engineering established themselves as a market leader in the manufacture of earthmoving equipment buckets and attachments, the conversion of Caterpillar Landfill compactors into soil compactors, as well as Queensland transport roadworthy inspection and general engineering.
With access to all this equipment came the opportunity to enter the plant hire game and soon to become mining contractors and suppliers of large machinery including Compactors, Dozers and Scrapers.
Maintained by a team of highly skilled plant mechanics, Turner’s Engineering has gained a reputation for supplying the industry with quality machinery backed up with a crew of highly skilled operators ensuring productive outcomes on all civil and mining projects.
The Turner’s Engineering name has become synonymous with quality and value. Turner’s Engineering now supply some of Australia’s largest mines with D10T and D11T bulldozers, 16M and 24M graders, 993K wheel loaders, a range of 775 and 789 Cat off-highway trucks as well as large Hitachi and Komatsu excavators. The scope of their manufacturing capabilities includes a range of excavator and wheel loader attachments spanning from one to hundred tonne. Our newest venture however, is the design, manufacture and final fit-out of premium quality lube truck and water cart bodies / systems for both road trucks and mining trucks alike.

SAFETY

Our Head Office and engineering workshop is strategically located on Queensland’s Gold Coast, supplying to the Asia Pacific region and interstate within Australia. Our 22,000m2 yard and accompanying 70-acre Greenfield Site are home to our existing 3,348m2 Workshop and newly constructed 928m2 Heavy Structural Workshop. All of our equipment is supported by a team of skilled tradespeople, available to offer technical advice or perform maintenance either at our workshops, or out in the field.

With more than 100 successful conversions from 816 to 815, 826 to 825, and 824 to 825 we guarantee that a Turner’s conversion meets and exceeds the original manufacturers quality standard.
All components of the conversion are done in-house, from casting the compaction caps, to machining the outer support bearing components. Our mechanical engineers and drawing office staff guarantee that the design and manufacturing techniques are of the latest and highest standard. Utilising computer aided programs and numerically controlled equipment our team can produce products of the highest quality, machined to exacting tolerances.

Turner’s Engineering QLD offer QLD Transport roadworthy inspection services for everything from Motorbikes and cars, to prime Movers and trailer combinations. We are accredited to install QLD Transport Modification Plates to heavy vehicles and can arrange registration, insurance & CTP, saving you a trip to the motor registry.
Our Nerang facility is conveniently located in the Automotive precinct close to many new & used car and motorcycle dealers, mechanical workshops, tyre services and panel repairers.
